SceneTown is a place to make, share, and sell music. These guidelines keep it safe for artists, fans, and everyone who passes through. They apply to everything you upload, post, send, sell, or do on the platform, on and off it where it affects our members, and to anyone acting on your behalf.
This policy is part of our Terms of Service and is enforced under them. Where the two differ, the Terms control. It is not a complete list: anything that harms members, the platform, or third parties, or that the law forbids, is not allowed whether or not it is named here.
Illegal or infringing content
Content that breaks any law or infringes copyright, trademark, publicity, privacy, or other rights you do not hold — including uncleared samples, cover recordings without the licence they need, and leaked or pre-release material. Copyright takedowns run through our DMCA process, and repeat infringers lose their accounts.
Child sexual abuse material and child endangerment
Any sexual content involving minors, grooming, or content that sexualizes children. Zero tolerance: removed, reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and the appropriate authorities, and the account is closed.
Minors on the platform
The Services are for adults 18 and older. Creating an account for a minor, inviting a minor, helping a minor pass the age check, or misrepresenting your own age.
Harassment, hate, and threats
Targeted harassment, hate speech, incitement to violence, glorification of terrorism or violent extremism, or credible threats against any person or group.
Non-consensual and deceptive content
Non-consensual intimate imagery, doxxing, deepfakes or voice clones of real people without their consent, and impersonation of any person, band, label, venue, or brand.
False declarations
Misstating who made a piece, who owns it, how it was made, or whether and how AI was involved; declaring a split the people in it did not agree to; or claiming a verification, badge, or attestation you do not hold.
Fraud, malware, and payment abuse
Scams, phishing, malware, payment fraud, chargeback abuse, money laundering, fake engagement or play manipulation, and anything designed to obtain money, passes, credits, or payouts you are not owed.
Platform abuse and circumvention
Bypassing or probing security, rate limits, watermarks, provenance marks, age or access controls; scraping, crawling, or bulk-downloading content or member data; using automation other than our published APIs under their terms; or using any output of the Services to train a machine-learning model without our written consent.
Accounts, handles, and passes
More than one account per person; buying, selling, sharing, or transferring an account, handle, or pass; squatting on or impersonating with a handle; or using invitations for anything but bringing in real people you know.
Spam and unwanted contact
Unsolicited bulk messages, invitations, or event mail; contacting people who have asked you to stop; misusing organizer guest data for unrelated marketing; or reselling or exporting anyone's contact details.
Dangerous or restricted goods and services
Selling or promoting weapons, illegal drugs, counterfeit goods, stolen data, or anything restricted where you or the buyer live; events or listings that are unsafe, unlicensed where a licence is required, or misdescribed.
Self-harm and dangerous acts
Content that promotes, glorifies, or instructs self-harm, suicide, eating disorders, or dangerous challenges.
Misuse of remixing and upload tools
Using MXR 3000 or any upload feature with material you do not have the rights to, or with streaming-service URLs in violation of those services' terms.
Interfering with others
Filing false reports, notices, counter-notices, or appeals; retaliating against someone for reporting; or helping anyone else do anything on this list.
We decide what violates these guidelines, and what to do about it, at our sole discretion. Depending on the harm, the context, and the account’s history we may remove or restrict content, add a label or a watermark, limit or remove a feature, withhold or claw back a payout, revoke passes or credits, suspend an account, or close it permanently — with or without notice, and without refund except where the law requires one. We may act on a single incident, and we may act before we have finished investigating where waiting would cause harm.
We have no obligation to monitor content and no obligation to act on every report, but we may review anything on the platform at any time. Illegal content — especially anything that endangers a child — is removed and reported to the appropriate authorities, and we cooperate with law enforcement and courts, including by preserving and disclosing account information, as the law requires or permits.
Accounts on SceneTown are for adults. We do not knowingly keep an account for anyone under 18, and we close any we find.
If you see something that breaks these guidelines, report it. For harmful content, abuse, or anything involving a minor, use our reporting channel. For copyright, follow the DMCA process. For a security vulnerability, email security@scenetown.com rather than testing it against live members; unauthorized testing is itself a violation.
Reports are confidential to the extent the law allows. Knowingly false reports are a violation.
If your content or account was actioned and you believe we got it wrong, you may appeal once by emailing legal@scenetown.com with the details within 30 days. A person will review it and reply. Our decision on appeal is final except where the law gives you a further right. Appeals do not pause an action already taken, and an account closed for child safety, fraud, or a court order is not eligible.
